The interactive showcase involved firstly, putting together two looks – one on FACEBOOK and one styled LIVE at the fashionable trunk show which was an all day/night event held at HYDE.
Want to know how I went against 4 of my Hong Kong contemporaries, well…
I literally ran into HYDE (not the most ladylike thing to do in heels) in a combinations of high heels & sweat with one mission:
Dress . The . Model… before shooting off to another coinciding event that I also needed to attend.
I pretty much hit the floor running, trying to convince myself that I looked ‘energetic’ as opposed to ‘panicked’!
As the last stylist to browse the vendors (the deal being we choose garments & accessories from the designers on show) I figured from what I’d seen the other competitors execute in the Facebook comp, that we all had personal takes on what was ‘fashionable’ that varied immensely from each other.
So finding my pics were a cinch (thankfully as I only had a 15 min window)
I ended up going for an incredible flirtatious and whimsically layered dress by ‘Modement‘, which was an off white with neon highlights and an embellished neckline (divine!).
I pulled out neon yellow highlights in the dress with a matching snakeskin box clutch by ‘Azyra’ And bracelet by ‘Hyperreall’
Then to cool it down (you never want too much matching!) I went for subtly pale blue/grey earrings by Fifth Avenue Collection.
Tightly pulled back & fishbraided hair & über highlighted & shimmery skin brought in the spring chic element while a bright orange lipstick settled the deal.
To me – Johanna (my model below) was an aspiring Spring goddess indeed.
Now all I needed was the crowd to vote for me!
So at that stage, I ran off to my other event then high tailed it back again just in time for the comp….
Which involved a catwalk (Johanna), a microphone/style explanation (me) and a round of voting (crowd)
After the right amount of suspense (and a dash to the bar to enjoy my 1xfree vodka drink… Vodka & Soda w/lime – the ‘carb free’ drink) the winner was announced
Which was…
MEEEEEEEEEEEE!
(I was a lot more subtle & ‘surprised’ during the announcement)
Which means a trip to Singapore for the BluePrint ‘Fashion Gateway Show’, alongside the AROXTA team (18th-20th May) I’ve already started mentally packing and literally can’t WAIT to fill you in on the fashionable haps over there!
Keep an eye out for the blog posts and do follow me on TWITTER, or FACEBOOK to hear about the AROXTA X DressMe Singaporian fashion trip it first!
Do you remember the last time you wore prints to a fashion event? How about the last time you wore a plain looking scarf? Or printed pants that look like it came out of an LMFAO music video? If your answer to the questions are either yes, or I cant remember, then you’re in luck because we’re here to tell you all about prints and how you can wear them this season.
Although the prints trend never left the fashion sphere, the trend has evolved. From printed scarves to printed pants that ranges from the quirky and fashionable to the absurd and unbearable, but even then the trend has continuously surpassed its shelf life in the world of fashion.
So this season, it took a different turn. It’s not just about prints now, it’s all about patchwork prints! Sound interesting? Take inspiration from the photos:
The key to a successful patchwork print experience is to make sure that you are able to bring several pieces of clothing together (it doesn't always have to have prints in it), with a touch of your personality. The more eclectic the design is, the better. It will make your patchwork print experience even more meaningful!
Don’t forget, prints don't always have to be colorful sometimes a simple black and white printed shirt is enough to get you through.
